Up in smoke
From the cigarette in hand
Wishing away
A life I could never live
Another season reminds me
Of all the ones that came before
Counting all blackbirds
Aware of their time
Each crow that floats on by
Carrying my hopes for the next life
Gathering what’s left of this one

Forgotten by Decay
01:00
|
|||
I envy all that decays
I’m filled, then emptied
Tossed away
Lustre faded
Caked with dirt
All I can do is watch the world
Fade while i just sit and wait
Use once and throw away
Nothing more than plastic

Apples, pears, peaches, peppers
All these fruits I know
But most of all I gather
Are the bitter ones that have been sown
Sweetness is a rarity
Delicacy I’m not allowed
But what is shared so freely
Rottenness handed to me
I know the worms that burrow the apples
All the moulds that sour the pears
Blighted peaches not to my surprise
Waxy pepper tears

Blank Sky of Clouds
00:44
|
|||
A blank sky
Though we know we stare into the clouds
The words i wish to say
no different
The ultraviolet on our skin
Burns and yet invisible
The closer we are to truth
The more unspeakable it is
A photo nor a painting
Can capture a river
And on it flows

When i close my eyes
Please turn out the lights
Cuz i’m not afraid of the dark anymore
When I say goodnight
Bid me rest well
And I won’t dream again
Cover me and tuck me in to sleep
So I’ll be well rested for
The next life that we meet

Evergreen Heart
00:59
|
|||
Autumn trees alight with colour
I could never be like you
Bright as flame, ephemeral
Still I stand among your leaves
How different these woods are
In the cold of winter
Yet looking at my tired hands
I’m very much the same
The mirror tells me the same thing
It’s told me for years
Grey hairs and tired eyes can’t hide
My heart is evergreen

The autumn’s come and gone more than twice over
And every time I am forgotten in the harvest
So I grow and swell on a vine long withered
Evermore rotten by the day
Time forgot to send the reaper on his duty
Between the cigarettes and coffee he had no time for me
And so i still grow
Evermore rotten by the hour
Who’s gonna harvest this rotten fruit?
Long overdue in this bitter harvest

Madman's Harvest
01:02
|
|||
I found the secret sowing grounds
Of aether rich enough to sweeten death
My tongue attune to every flavor
Twisted in a glut of knowledge
Plucking flowers in shapes unknown
Crown of vines of infinity
Gorged on nectar of madman’s knowledge
My stomach’s bursting
I should only take what I need
But I can’t stop this feeding
|
||||
9. |
||||
Leftover aether in a small bag
Poured out with scraps and spoiled wine
The mischief makers with their crooked smiles
Scooped up the refuse and began their handiwork
A boy of mismatched pieces
Who slipped between the cracks
Moved with the grace of black wings
Spoke with tongues spirit and flesh
But all the stitches sown with cunning and mischief
Can barely hold together something so uncanny
Neither belonging to here nor there
The son of tricksters has no form to return to

Pathological Scavenger
00:54
|
|||
If the wind could breathe
Life into me
I’d shed this body
And never feed again
If my attempts to be free living
Didn’t turn the world to hostility
Then I would cease to be a poison
Until now all I touched turned to ash
So now I cling to whatever I can
I’m just a parasite
Grateful to a host to survive

Fire too Tired to Burn
01:01
|
|||
November shades appear
The light is settling
Between petals of the mistflower
And arthritic middle fingers
The crane decided against the urge to migrate
For his chest was tired
The grey had finally settled in
From worn down feathers to his heart
Too tired to burn
The cold is here at rest
